I learned a lot during this testing process. I learned to use Atmos Fringe software and bought it from Massimo Riccardi. I am now able to simulate a lot a of conditions, such as aperture stop down at each wavelength, and isolate certain optical properties with the Zernike polynomials. And I now can better interpret all the diagrams, because I can simulate changes and see the results. So I recommend to everyone testing with Wolfgang and then for the more curious testing with Atmos Fringe. Wolfgang sends a CD with the inteferometer images and Fringe Files, so that we can play and simulate with Atmos Fringe. Thanks a lot to Wolfgang. More optics on the way in January for testing.
Ich entschuldige mich für das Schreiben in Englisch, mein Deutsch ist nur google translaste. I am the proud owner of this lens. I was very happy to know the green strehl is 0.990 when LZOS test report is 0.967. But my main goal for this test was the spectrum analysis, both focused at green and focused at each wavelength. Because a difference from 96% to 99% strehl on green is not very noticeable, but a 60% strehl on red or blue is problematic to me. And Wolfgang tested it at 9 different wavelength, from 405 to 656nm! I use the scope a lot for solar Ha, so I was also very happy to see it has a strehl of 0.962 at Ha. And even focused on green, Ha is still 0.953. Excellent. The extreme blue (405nm) is not very good, but that is usual, I guess very few apos have correction there much better. I wonder what are the better refractors (apo or achro of 100-130mm up to 1200mm focal length) for the extreme blue (405nm or 393nm) focused at that wavelength. This is for solar CaK, where apertures above 100 or 130 are not needed, because resolution is linear dependent of wavelength, and 100mm Cak has higher resolution than 150mm Ha. It was also important to me to know the spherical aberration evolution along the spectrum. Sometimes a glass path (for example prism diagonal) is used to correct SA towards the red, but as this lens is well corrected on green and red, glass path does not help and only makes it worse. This is told by the SA values on the table and then confirmed by the glass path test made by Wolfgang. For this lens I have an excellent custom made tube by APM. So this is my dream scope. LZOS has discontinued this model, to continue only with the 180 f/7 model.
